Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science or Technology degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is actively seeking a Senior LINUX Systems Administrator to fill the role of site lead at a customer site located in Dohar, Qatar. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing day-to-day administration, maintenance, and customer support of a primarily LINUX based cross-domain system. Strong knowledge of LINUX software/hardware, command line troubleshooting, and shell scripting is essential. Prior experience with U.S. Government configuration standards pertaining to classified systems is required. Individual must demonstrate the ability to independently identify tasks or projects, and effectively prioritizes time to complete multiple assignments. This position will require frequent interaction with end users/customers and work within customer spaces. Must have strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to brief senior corporate and customer staff members. Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources.

 

Other skills that would be preferred, but not necessary, are database administration, experience with information assurance, exposure to trusted operating systems, and experience with guards are other cross-domain devices.

 

Responsibilities include the following:

 

Primary:

  • Day to day management and tasking of a small team (4-5 engineers)
  • Day to day command line system administration, including preventative maintenance activities and issue resolution, on a LINUX based system (more specifically, Trusted Network Environment (TNE) Pitbull command level administration)
  • Provide rapid response to customer trouble tickets and provide immediate feedback, including creation of user accounts, reset of user account passwords, and resolving user reported issues
  • Create, modify and troubleshoot shell scripts as needed/required
  • Work with other teams/discipline to gather/collect statistical metrics
  • Document system issues and elevate to the appropriate section for resolution
  • Interact with customers
  • Manage cross domain enterprise level solutions
  • Install, move and or break-down systems
  • Maintain the security and stability of cross domain solutions
  • Provide customer notifications of documented issues and maintenance downtimes
  • Resolve issues within customer workspaces
  • Train customers on product or unique feature

Secondary:

  • Perform LINUX audit and reporting tasks
  • Command line Oracle Database troubleshooting, including SQL, skills highly desirable
  • Collection and reporting of system use metrics
