Basic Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.


Clearance Requirements:

Ideally, the candidate will have a current Department of Defense TS/SCI clearance; however, it is acceptable if the candidate can obtain the required TS/SCI clearance within an acceptable timeframe.


Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Reverse Systems Engineer/Analyst.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


The Senior Reverse Systems Engineer/Analyst shall perform a broad spectrum of duties that may include:

  • Communications systems analysis and research
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of communications systems configurations and protocols
  • Research emerging industry technologies 

**Position will require at least 25 to 50% travel. 


Key Responsibilities

  • The Senior Reverse Systems Engineer/Analyst analyzes, decomposes, disassembles code, performs static code analysis, kernel-level debugging, and debugs and modifies software. Work often involves software operating systems, malware or electronic signals.
  • The Senior Advanced Reverse Systems Engineer must be knowledgeable of operating system fundamentals (interrupts, threading, virtual memory, device drivers) and internals (memory layouts and management, binary file formats). 
  • This position requires knowledge and exposure to computer processor architectures and instructions sets. Typically programs in both C and assembly language. 
  • Further, this position is also involved in Protocol Analysis, Vulnerability Assessment, and Security Research and Rapid Prototyping of proof of concept capabilities.

Specific job requirements include:

  • Collect and analyze Customer requirements. This includes preparation and delivery of customer briefings and capability demonstrations.
  • Provide for expert analytic support in terms of system vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies
  • Perform system engineering tasks including managing of systems level requirements, developing operational system concepts, performing system architecture trade studies, originating design concepts, and performing system level integration and test.
  • Extensive hands on experimentation experience in a communications hardware environment
  • Familiarity with the structure and protocol(s) of digital communications signals and related hardware systems
  • Ability to perform experiments in a laboratory environment and be capable of trouble shooting, diagnosing and executing enhancements to communications systems in both hardware and software
  • Ability to conceptualize derivative forms of communication systems in written and presentation formats, then follow through with lab level execution of bread board models
  • Proven ability to conduct hardware–based experiments using digital signal processing equipment in a live signals environment
  • Extensive communication/presentation experience with customers and collaboration with team members
  • Support business development activities through analysis of customer and market requirements and comparison against GD-MS product lines along with other vendor products/capabilities.
  • Recommend the development of new capabilities in support of market and customer needs
