Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.


Technological knowhow:


Knowledge of most of the following is required:

  • General knowledge of communication systems (satellite, radio, VOIP, WAN, LAN)
  • Network topologies and security management
  • Layered security architectures and designs
  • Host-based protection and network based security concepts, anti-virus tools
  • Encryption, Key Management distribution systems and Public Key Infrastructure
  • Patch management and vulnerability assessment
  • Harden and perform STIG compliance verification of OSs (i.e. Windows 2012, Windows 10, Linux operating systems), applications, and Microsoft Office products
  • Verify STIG compliance of Network firewalls, internal/external routing and switching
  • Penetration testing of systems
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with assessment tools (ACAS-NESSUS),Windows and LINUX OSs, Cisco, Juniper , Palo Alto, McAfee network security products and systems

Certification requirement: A Security+ or CISSP certification is required.



Travel: Must be able to travel 20% of the time. 


Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Information Assurance Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



  • Responsible for performing CyberSecurity (CS) system assessments, developing related test plan requirements, analyzing results, and gathering evidence under the Risk Management Framework.
  • Lead assessment of management, operational, and technical security controls employed within or inherited by an information system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls and gather compliance evidence (i.e., the extent to which the controls are implemented correctly, operating as intended, and producing the desired outcome with respect to meeting the security requirements for the system).
  • Review system design documentation, advise development SMEs on what the security requirements are (IA controls, STIGs and IAVAs), and test the security requirements during system development in a sprint environment.
  • Develop verification methods for security requirements and controls, execute tests with security assessment tools, and prepare test reports (e.g., DISA SCAP SCC and ACAS NESSUS scans).
  • Review IAVA and STIG assessment results, recommend corrective actions to address vulnerabilities, and manage the plan of action and milestones (POAM) finding closure actions with the stakeholders.
  • Develop assessment efficiencies through automation tools, processes, and script.
  • Evaluate cutting edge assessment tools

  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of at least one adjacent discipline (software, systems, etc.)
  • Use all Microsoft Office applications with ease.
