Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is currently seeking Senior Software Engineers who will technically contribute to the Consolidated Product line Management Next (CPM Next) contract. You will be a part of the development of next generation military command and control (C2) training environments using Modeling and Simulation.

 

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to detailed domain analysis of the Live Training Transformation (LT2) infrastructure, to support life cycle management as the foundation to provide Training as a Service (TaaS)
  • Develop software and systems products in a UNIX, Linux and/or Windows-based workstation environment.
  • Comprehend object-oriented software development and C/C++/Java software language proficiency.
  • Plan, design, develop and test software, components or subsystems or applications for software enhancements and new products
  • Research, design, document, implement, and test computer software systems, in conjunction with product development requirements, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
  • Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
  • Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Web Services knowledge and expertise (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML and related AJAX technologies)
  • Java / J2EE application development
  • Web development using J2EE with Spring Framework
  • Experience with C#/.Net/Mono, jQuery, JavaScript Database skills and being able to understand data models and structure.
  • Multi-tier application development using SOA
  • Database skills (mongoDB, CouchDB, MS SQL, Hibernate, Stored Procedures)
  • Strong Core Java, Junit development skills
  • Ability to understand Structured Query Language (SQL) and ability to make SQL calls for data queries, joins, inputs, deletions, etc
  • Good communication (should be able to present concepts)
  • Well versed with Java Coding Standards and Guide lines
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and general software development background
  • The candidate will communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise attention to detail and follow oral and written instructions
  • Portability of skills on multi-platforms and online / offline world
  • Development of technical solutions to complex problems while adhering to prescribed software processes
  • Participating in all Agile Software Development (Scrum) activities
  • Configuration management (RTC, SVN and Jira) and CMMI L5 software processes/metrics and Product Line Management processes/tools
