Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advanced System Engineer for Open Sensor Systems. Open Sensor Systems based on the MOSA Back End Reference Architecture and Software Development Kit are at the heart of a variety of current and anticipated products and pursuits within GDMS. The Advanced Systems Engineer will be part of a team of highly qualified individuals focused on creating Open Architecture software products and infrastructure to enable rapid adoption and agile development both within GDMS and with third party users. The successful candidate will analyze, design, develop and test Open Sensor System products and infrastructure, ensuring the successful integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements of the total engineering effort.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Providing engineering expertise to the product line technical management
  • Selecting systems architectures for various product form-factors and functionality
  • Formulating operational concepts and creating test procedures for verification and validation
  • Identify, investigate, analyze data, troubleshoot and document system problems
  • Reviewing completed procedures for accuracy, completeness and validation that acceptance criteria were satisfactorily met

 

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Candidates should two or more of the following skills:

  • System integration and test
  • Open Mission Systems (OMS) experience
  • Radar systems expertise
  • Microsoft Office
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication abilities
