Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

 

Clearance Requirements:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is Required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Deputy Program Manager Engineering (DPME) .  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

 

The Deputy Program Manager Engineering (DPME) works with the Program Manager (PM) and team leads to coordinate engineering activities with the engineering team and appropriate key stakeholders. 

 

The DPME shall continually review and monitor the phase/iteration commitments (work products, and acceptance criteria) defined in the applicable engineering plans, throughout all of the project phases/iterations. This includes the identification, analysis and prioritization of stakeholder issues, to include but not be limited to, appropriate breadth and depth of stakeholder context, adherence to the schedule, allocated cost and dependencies, early identification of possible slips in On-Time Acceptable Delivery (OTAD), development of program deliverables, and adherence to specifications. In the event that the commitments begin to deviate from plan, putting the completion of the commitments by the end of the project phase/iteration at risk, then the DPME will work with the PM and Engineering Management to develop a recovery plan. The work products for the specified phase/iteration are normally completed by the phase/iteration end gate review. 

 

The DPME shall monitor and manage the engineering risks identified in risk reviews as specified in the applicable engineering plan, throughout each of the project phases/iterations. This includes the identification of new project risks and opportunities, the collection, analysis and prioritization of existing risks, modification and development of risk mitigation plans, the modification and review of risk type and impact as well as remaining residual risk, and the execution and monitoring of the mitigation plans. 

 

The DPME, along with support from other engineering disciplines as required, is responsible for supporting the periodic review of the items being monitored under this procedure with engineering management and relevant stakeholders, or externally as required through the Engineering Status Review (ESR). The periodicity of the ESR is as defined in the project’s engineering plans. The information shared should include, but not be limited to, metrics, phase/iteration commitments, risks, corrective actions, Data Management/Configuration Management (DM/CM) status, existing action items, opportunities, assumptions, dependencies and issues identified during the current phase/iteration.
