Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior integrated Logistics Support Specialist (ILS) Customer Support (Technical).  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports the Tactical Air Integrations System (TAIS). General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



  • Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, engineering, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems
  • Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software
  • Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature
  • Assists in project/program tasks related to specific ILS elements
  • Provides ILS input to project/program plans and deliverables
  • Defines, reviews and analyzes system requirements for enhancements/modifications for supportability
  • Supports internal audits and/reviews for corrective action plans
  • Supports other disciplines for program/project resolutions/enhancements 
  • Assists in the development of project/program plans and deliverables
  • Performs duties and responsibilities as member or functional expert on process improvement teams and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) 
  • Assists in the development of supplier requirements and Statements of Work
  • Independently create major sections of ILS deliverables

  • Accomplish Defense Acquisition University (DAU) courses and select GD internal engineering course 
  • Apply for International Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE) credentials: SOLE Demonstrated Logistician (DL) 
  • Reports to an ILS Manager 
  • Individual contributor 
  • ILS Generalist - intermediate level professional 
  • Designs, develops and manages activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life
  • May be required to travel 


  • Considerable knowledge of Acquisition Logistics (a multi-functional technical management discipline associated with influencing design for supportability and planning the support infrastructure for a system by focusing on the integrated logistics support (ILS) elements and working with and across all IPTs)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining software that supports complex command and control systems
  • Considerable knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Elements (supply support; maintenance planning; manpower and personnel; technical manuals; training and training equipment; support equipment; facilities; computer resources support; packaging, handling, storage and transportation (PHS&T); design interface; reliability, maintainability and availability (RM&A), how they interact and how they are applied across a program, their effect on a system, plus how a systems' design and changes affect the ILS elements 
  • Considerable experience in one or more of the ILS elements
  • Considerable knowledge of military/commercial requirements/ specifications 
  • Considerable knowledge of internal/external procedures and policies
  • Conflict management skills
  • Considerable knowledge of the acquisition logistics process
  • Ability to coordinate with other disciplines for program/project resolutions/enhancements 
  • Considerable knowledge of various ILS software applications
  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors

Department of Defense Secret clearance is at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
